Marié's latest video was put up just before she kicked off her summer tour as a special guest on the Lilith Fair 2010, and is a beautiful new original + piano dedicated to Los Angeles, her hometown. In the description box, Marié describes how she has seen people come and go in Los Angeles and how alluring, yet cruel the city can be. She explains how careers have been destroyed and have taken off, and how she met so many aspiring musicians in her teens and early twenties, many of which left the city within a matter of years. Watch it here!

Ideal Bite: Music That Naturally Rocks

Marié was recently interviewed by Ideal Bite on what she thinks about going green. You won't only find an interview, Ideal Bite is also giving away a signed copy of Marié Digby's newly released album Breathing Underwater! Sign up as soon as possible to be in a chance of winning 1 of the 30 copies being awarded to some lucky fans.

When did you first start making greener lifestyle choices?
My parents have always been very conscious about living a green lifestyle. So I was raised to be the same. We do everything from recycling our garbage to always opting for organic products and supporting environmental protection groups. As a family, we are also just in the process of trading in our car for a hybrid.

What spurred your decision to switch to organic skin care?
I had read many articles about the kinds of chemicals which may be in the products we use everyday. The last thing I want to do is to cover my face and body with chemicals! That's what made me make the switch to organic skin care.

Is there one must-have organic/natural skin care product you can't live without?
Rose Day Cream by Dr. Hauschka is a favorite but I love a lot of products from this line!

Do you support any conservation or green charities/organizations? If not, any plans to?
I have been a supporter and member of the Sierra Club for many years. My father has been a member for a while as well. Having grown up in California, my family and I feel a huge need to help in protecting our Sierra Nevada Mountains and places like Yosemite National Park.

theSun Malaysia: Ongoing Evolution!

File Under: News

Posted by Ella on Sep 13 2009

Marié has recently been interviewed by a Malaysian newspaper 'theSun'. She talks about how she's grown as a musician in the past few years, how she felt about the album leak and her Asian heritage. Marié also lightly touched the topic of Breathing Underwater being made into a mini movie. Read some excerpts below, and read the full story here.
In April, Breathing Underwater was leaked online in its entirety. Digby has taken the otherwise unpleasant situation in her stride. "It’s something you have to accept would happen someday," she explained. "One thing I hope is that fans who have listened to the album and liked it will spread the word and buy it once it’s in stores.

"My Asian heritage is a big part of who I am," said Digby. "When I was growing up, my mum played lots of Japanese songs, and until the age of five, I only spoke Japanese, thanks to her. My father would take us to Japan twice a year to keep us in touch with the culture and language."

Now that she has completed both albums, Digby is focusing on her next project, a mini movie based on all the songs in Breathing Underwater. "We’re planning to release it virally over the Internet, as part of an ongoing story. We’re just getting started on it, but we’ll start trickling it out online very soon." [read more]

Breathing Underwater finally came out on MP3 today! To purchase the whole album on Amazon.com, click here; it's available for $2.99 with "Sanctuary" as a bonus song! Remember, Breathing Underwater will be released EVERYWHERE on September 15th. Regarding the release, Marié posted a super long blog on Myspace about her "Unfold" tour with Eric Hutchinson, the making of "Breathing Underwater", and how the new album is different from "Unfold". Read more below! Also, the webcast on Facebook is TODAY; don't forget!
SO if you don't know this already, my brand new album ' breathing underwater 'is officially out on AMAZON !!!!!!!
They are doing a special promotion where you can download the whole mp3 album for only $2.99 but this deal may only be a day or two !!!
For those of you (like me) who like to buy CD's, so you can hold it in your hand, look through the booklet, the cd will be out everywhere on Sept 15th !!!!

Last September, I had finished a long summer of touring and promoting ' Unfold ' my debut album. Getting to travel all over the country with eric hutchinson, justin nozuka, and gavin degraw were some of the best times of my life.
On the first tour with Eric and Justin, all of us and our three bands were jammed onto one bus! Living off of coffee and pancakes, showering in holiday inn's ( on lucky days!),falling asleep to the loud hum of the bus engine, meeting new fans and friends, countless truck stop meals and quick entertainment, sitting on the grass in the middle of nowhere and looking up at the stars, experimenting with new songs, getting super bored and having a bit too much to drink :p, walking around strange towns and sometimes accidentally discovering the most amazing restaurant or coffee place, spending a whole day in target... i know it might sound silly but i loved every moment of it.
I am so grateful that I had the chance to even release my first cd and then on top of that, to get to play it for people all over the world ...
Traveling to Singapore, Malaysia, and Japan for unfold was amazing as well :)

So I got off the road, came home... and it was time to think about album #2.
What did I want to say? What musically, did i want to explore? What was inspirational to me at the moment...
I wasn't exactly sure how it was supposed to sound but I knew a few things for sure :
It had to be bolder, more confident, and lush....
After performing live, I was craving more music that would make people want to move.
So i had to have rhythm... bass..... I wanted beats...
I was THRILLEd with all the possibility.... and then came a flood of doubts.
Wait, is this what my fans want of me? Am I supposed to just stay an acoustic-y, folky, artist my whole career? Is that all that I can do?
Then I started thinking about all the artists that I've grown up idolizing.... portishead, radiohead, tori amos.. the list goes on.. they've never been shy of evolving, with each album, they grew and morphed... they challenged me to listen differently, to feel differently.
Now, I may have a long ways to go before i even touch the edge of leaving the mark that these bands have but I don't see why I shouldn't strive to walk in that direction...
Like I may have said before in my songs, I, just like anyone else, have insecurities and moments of doubt but ... there is one thing I am not, fearful.
Nothing great, nothing life changing or epic comes out of fear....
So while I might have had some worries as to how I would explain to everyone where I was going and why, I knew I had to do it and if I was going to do it, put everything I had into it.
Kind of reminds of the day I decided to leave behind college (despite the advice to do the opposite from all those around me including those who love me the most) to pursue music. It was either the most ridiculous decision or my life or the most important and brilliant.

Last September, I was introduced to several incredibly talented producers and writers through my dear A&R (Allison Hamamura) with whom I made this album. If you didn't know, I have been without a manager for almost a year now. Everything I did between last september and a few weeks ago.. I did alone.. but the person who helped me the most and got me through this was Allison.
If you read through my album credits, you will see that there are a handful of people who made up the core of this album.
It was a magical process.... I worked on this album every single day.. all through out the holidays, just taking a few days off for Christmas . I was also making my first Japanese album ' Second Home' at the same time.. which only doubled my work... [Read More]
