I caught a super bad flu last week :( But good thing is, it forced me to stay at home and since I had so much time to kill... I also had time to be creative and write new songs! I was in such a state of discomfort that I wanted to write something utterly happy and cheerful... so voila...

"I felt totally incomplete because I knew music was what I wanted to do. I was coming home every other weekend to play shows, and I decided I couldn't do both at the same time. I put everything I had into music. I had this conviction that if I believed this was what I wanted more than anything, it would happen."
"By the time I got the deal, I had learned enough not to get over-excited. My attitude was, here's where the real work starts."
"Like many other musicians, first and foremost I'm an observer. I love watching people, and songs come out of that. When I have an experience that moves me, I can't sit still until I've written the song."
"There's an energy you share with the people you play for. You feel it intensely when they’re paying attention. When you write the most personal and truthful songs, that's when you connect that way. It's scary. You still feel naked, but it's also very cathartic."
"I don't want to sound like I'm saving the world, but everyone on Earth is given a gift. Music is mine. I hope someday I'm successful enough to use it as a way to help other people."
“I just hated life. I hated school. I didn’t have any friends and I absolutely hated lunchtime and break because it became obvious to everyone that I didn’t have anyone to hang out with.”
"I'm really lucky with what's happened on YouTube, it's put so much of the control in my hands because I can say whatever I want and present my music however I'd like, without having to filter it through anyone. That's what I love... and I think that's why I have been able to create such a special relationship with so many of you."
"I found this interview clip from the Pantene Pro-Voice Show in New York. It's kind of funny because as soon as I finished playing, they rushed me to do this interview and I was so embarrassed that I really couldn't look at the camera, I just kept looking at the interviewer and at the floor."
"The Umbrella video was the first one to take off. Before that, I was getting 400 or 500 views (on her videos) total, and I would be ecstatic if I got 20 views in a day. So, I woke up one day, and I think it was maybe a month or two into doing these videos, and someone had found my Umbrella video and promoted it. So, anyone who came on to YouTube would see it as a Featured Video, and after that, it kind of blew up, after that."
"The songs (from Unfold) were written at 16, 17, 21, 23...they are really just a collection of stories and experiences of my last ten years. Songs like Miss Invisible is like an exact tear sheet from my junior high school journal."
"(Breathing Underwater) is very honest and autobiographical. I hope that it's relatable for everyone."
