It's been a while since I've posted a cover on my page... so sorry :( I was in the car yesterday and happened to hear this new Linkin Park single. I absolutely love this song and this band. I've already seen them 8 times live and have been watching them since I was in high school...

It's kind of funny because as soon as i finished playing they rushed me to do this bit with la-la and i was so embarassed that i couldn't really look at the camera, i just kept looking at her! .. or at the floor. take a looky

these last two weeks... have been incredible.. some of the best times of my life. I know that's a big statement but i really mean it.
when i walked into the studio on my first day of recording, all i had in my hand was my acoustic guitar... and when i first stepped into the room i literally just stopped in the doorway of the studio and stood there in awe. To actually be in the room where I was going to start recording my album was just unbelievable.. all the mics, the beautiful high ceilings, all the guitars and basses lined up.. the grand piano..the techs and engineers running around making sure everything is perfect.... after all the years of recording in a bathroom... and now this? it was overwhelming. I didn't realize how nervous I was until the first take of the first song... my fingers were shaking as I was trying to play my part on the piano...
I absolutely love all the guys who played with me on this record.. matt (guitars) = cracked us up constantly, knows just about every band/movie that exists, left a lasting impression on me about ' grilled' hot dogs over 'boiled', has the cutest parents in the world named phil and denise. Sasha (badass bass) = an amazing artist, ping-pong mentor/playmate.. several of the maroon 5 guys who happened to be recording next door even challenged sasha but all got their asses kicked... like me. Charlie (drums)= killer dance moves, brought a box of the most amazing italian cookies on the first day of practice - instant friends for that. all of them are the most modest, downto earth and yet unbelievably talented musicans i've met.
it was sad leaving the studio today. as matt put it, it felt alot like the last day of summer camp.. working, eating, playing, talking with the same people for two weeks straight and then you have to say bye... there's still alot of work to be done but it'll be all at tom's place from here on out..
every night that i go to bed, i fall asleep smiling because i am so happy, so grateful for having the chance to do what i've always dreamed of, what i love more anything. ... i hope that comes through in my music :)

Hey all - so last week.. you won't believe where I went....
I went to the YouTube Headquarters!!! I was invited by them to play at their annual Holiday Party in San Francisco where they are based. I actually got to meet the two guys who created youtube and everyone who now works at the company. Although I expected to meet some turbo nerds with pocket protectors and duct tape on their glasses, everyone was super cool.. mostly, hip, young folks. The two guys, Steve and Chad, who created youtube are in their late 20's or early 30's and are now worth hundreds of millions.. for this company that's less than 5 years old! Crazy.. But instead of buying an island somewhere and sitting on the beach for the rest of their lives.. they still go to work like everyone else. I guess they love what they do The picture I've included below is of Chad and me at the party... doing the signature geeky asian peace sign ;)
SOooo... other than that. The year is finally starting to wind down for me !! I leave for Japan on the day after Christmas with my family.. can't wait for that. I'll be over there for a few weeks to visit my grandma and all my cousins. I've gotta find a way to take some cooler videos while I'm there. There's so much stuff to see in Japan that you don't have here in the states!
Hope you are all staying warm. It's pretty chilly here in L.A ... but I'm sure it's nowhere near as cold as some of the other states I've been to this year! So happy holidays and talk to you guys soon :)

hello hello !
This Sunday Dec.9th , the ABC family movie Holiday in Handcuffs will be playing at 8/7c time. It stars Melissa Joan Hart !! Come on, what girl from my generation can't say that Clarissa Explains It All wasn't one of your favorite shows ? :) My original Christmas song 'Bring me Love' has been featured in the commercials for the movie! The song is also now available on iTunes... :) It looks super cute and I'll definitely be watching it with my dog and a gigantic cup of hot cocoa (crate and barrel makes this amazing peppermint hot chocolate mix.. go get it !) Hope you are all doing well.. the year is flying by isn't it?

My AT&T Blueroom performance and interview are up at www.attblueroom.com !!! yay!!!!
Just click on 'Music' and then you should see my name under 'What's New'
I hope you all had a wonderful thanksgiving! I honestly couldn't think of a nicer way to come home than to play to a sold-out audience at the Troubadour !!! It was so lovely to see all of your faces... I said to myself 'I'm HOME!' :) I've been taking it easy this last week but I'm ready to get back into work! My throat was pretty worn out by the end of last week and the doctor ordered me not to sing.. but let me tell you, it was pretty tough ;) Every winter that rolls around.. I get into the mind space where I just want to write and write. I'm sure that with all of the incredible experiences I've had over this last year, the source for writing material will never run dry.. Just in the last month, I saw more of this country than I have in my whole life!
OH! and before I head off to bed.. I have a few shows in Dec. !! I will be playing in one of my favorite cities.. Portland, Oregon on Dec. 4th and Cleveland, Ohio on Dec. 10th. I'll put the details up very soon
I'm figuring out when my next California show will be.. and i say CA because i'm not sure if that'll be L.A, O.C, Northern cali??
ok.. that's all for now. goodnight :) xo marie'

To anyone who wasn't able to get tickets to my upcoming show at the Troubadour.. There's some good news !!
My entire show will be webcast on my Myspace page as well as on uStream.tv ! So you will be able to watch the whole thing as if you are there. I mean, minus the occasional drunk who spills beer all over you and the whole ordeal of finding parking ;)
So if you want to see the show from your house, just make sure to visit my Myspace page or UStream on Friday night. The show begins at 8 but I will be going on closer to 10pm.
This is a first but should be pretty cool. That's it for now !

Hey everyone! So today I left St. Louis .. and now I am in a place called McAllen Texas, right on the border of Mexico !! I went into the 7-Eleven of McAllen called 'Stripes' and a cute old man came up to me asking me something. But unfortunately, I don't know any Spanish and he didn't seem to know a word of English... through a lot of akward smiling and gesturing we finally found a way to communicate ! He wanted to know where I found the bottles of water :)
So when we landed today and got off the plane, the first thing I smelled was wafts of barbeque sauce.. lol..
I'm playing 4 shows total in Texas and I'm very excited about them all.
I wanted to thank everyone who listened to 'Spell' on Smallville yesterday night. I heard that it was pretty amazing in the scene!! I decided to post it in my music player here on myspace... lyrics are up there as well.
On a side note - My label sent out a bulletin today telling people that I have a new facebook account. As you know, I'm out on the road now and I don't always get time to go on the internet.. so from this point on, I just wanted to let you know that you may occasionally see bulletins or blogs that will not be posted by me. You'll know the ones that I personally post because I always write a message with mine... But for instance, today.. I didn't even know that I had a facebook! I believe that the label will be updating that site. I will continue to run the myspace and the youtube pages however.
And now... It's PICTURE TIME !! let's see what interesting pics I can find in my camera from the last few days :
Lance took this shot in St.Louis right before we did a radio gig. The sky looked like it was on fire..
This is Lance walking through the Moca? in Chicago
This 'Zoltar' guy was right outside our hotel room.. Anyone a fan of the movie 'Big' ??
and finally.. this is the old train station turned into a hotel that we stayed in.. it was beautiful

Okay, so I am totally going to miss it because I've been out on this crazy radio promo tour but I wanted to let you all know that my song 'Spell' will be on this Thursday's episode of Smallville !!
I hope someone out there watches the show! ;) It's on the CW network at 8 pm.
You will have to fill me in on how it goes...
Right now I am sitting in my hotel room in Chicago ! I've yet to get a good slice of deep dish pizza!! I hear planes flying over my room every 2 minutes.. there's a railroad outside and a large highway, sleeping should be interesting tonight.. lol..
I've been having an amazing time so far on this trip ! Thank you to all of the new people I've met who have come to shows, parties, radio gigs... I'm really getting the full blown east coast tour of America. It's all really beautiful but I have to say that I'm looking forward to getting back to the perfect weather of Los Angeles! While Lance and I were in Connecticut, we probably looked like nerds because we kept taking pictures of trees.. we just don't get those gorgeous colored leaves where I live. I'll try to include a picture in this blog.
I hope you are all well.. I can't WAIT to see you back in L.A at the Troubadour!! Lots of love, marie'

I pretty much lost my mind yesterday when I walked out onto the stage at the Wiltern and looked out at a sea of faces.... I usually get a little nervous before shows but this time, it's like I (for a moment in time) forgot where I was, what I was doing there... I was completely immersed in the moment and it was beautiful.
As I started singing my first song, I couldn't help but let my mind wander for a second.. thinking back on all of the times that I've stood out there in the audience and watched some of my favorite musicians on that very stage. For some reason, the theater seems a whole lot smaller when you're the one standing on the stage :)
Now, I know that wasn't my most glorious moment. Afterall, I was merely an opener's opener. lol..
But still.. there I was, holding my guitar, singing my songs.. at this historic place. What a dream.
Thank you so much for the people who were yelling my name and supporting me !!! I totally heard you and I was singing to you ! It's a funny phenomenon but when you're performing, you don't even need to look out - you can just feel where energy is directed at you. I felt it from every corner of the room.. right in front of me, up in the balcony.. so thank you for being a part of that incredible night.
I'm about ready to take off on a crazy journey which will take me through quite a few cities in the next few weeks! Here's a little look at where I'll be :
Oct 30 - NYC Bowery Ballroom
Nov 1 - Boston WBMX
Nov 2 - Hartford CT WTIC
Nov 3 - Philadelphia
Nov 5 - Baltimore WWMX and Washington
Nov 6 - Washington WRQX and XM
Nov 7 - Cleveland, OH Q104
Nov 8 - Chicago, IL - WTMX with KOZ
Nov 9 - St. Louis, MO - KYKY
Nov 10 - McAllen TX - KHKZ
Nov 12 - Austin TX
Nov 13 - Houston TX
Nov 14 - Dallas TX
Nov 16 - Troubadour show in Los Angeles !!!!!!!! Which is sold-out so thank you so much !!! Can't wait for this one.. and to see you all again :)
bye for now. xoxo marie'
PS - my iTunes EP is now available in several other countries beyond the U.S !! Please check it out on my page and tell all of your friends... !

I think I need to send a huge bouquet of flowers to this music supervisor who has so kindly used many of my songs in The Hills ...
An original of mine called ' Say It Again' will be on Monday's episode of The Hills !! Now even I can say that I've seen just about every episode of this season.. hah !
For all of you who do not live in L.A - let me tell you something though - life here is not anything like what you see in The Hills. .. well, at least for me. Afterall, it's Friday night , 10:30 and I am writing a blog on myspace instead of clubbing at Les Deux and making out with my best friend's boyfriend. lol.. I think I prefer eating some ice cream and watching tv :)

Thank you guys for making yesterday another amazing night at the Hotel Cafe.. !!
It was a great feeling performing 'Spell' for the second time - I hope you all liked that one. I have another new song that I'm planning to debut next Tuesday on the last day of my residency. It's gone by very quickly.. I don't think I'll be playing in L.A (other than the Matchbox 20 show) for a little while. But the good news is, I'll probably be doing a big show in Nov. at the Troubadour!! Best part about it is that it's all ages :)
I also wanted to say 'thank you' as well as apologize to all of the people who were not able to get in yesterday. It seems that the Hotel was completely packed and may have even over sold the pre-sale tickets.. I hope I can make it up to you somehow!
goodnight and see you all soon xoxo ** marie' **

I don't know what's wrong with me but I must have slept about 12 hours last night... and yet I could still crawl back into bed tonight at 10 pm ?
I love that feeling when you first get under the covers and blankets.. you finally quiet down and you can close your eyes knowing that you can sleep in as long as you want - no alarm clocks set, no plans.. I guess that's the beauty of Sundays - not every one but at least once in a while :)
Here are some interview clips that I came across - one is from the KTLA news program in Los Angeles and the other is a phone interview ... http://ktla.trb.com/ (just click on 'Celebrities' - since when do i count as a celebrity? lol )
This is the phone interview -

A while ago I got an email in my myspace inbox from a man who said he was the music supervisor for The Hills (which means he is charge of all the music that goes into the tv show). I was skeptical about him actually being the supervisor but he ended up putting my cover of 'Umbrella' into the season premiere of the show .. and now 'Stupid For You' will be on next week's episode on Monday Sept. 17th !!
Obviously, I was ecstatic to hear 'Umbrella' on the show but I have a feeling that I will be even more excited to hear an original song of mine :)
I have no idea where it will come in.. i mean, it could be a few seconds for all I know or a great spot like last time! Either way, it's pretty awesome!
There's so much I want to tell you about some exciting shows I have in the works right now. As soon as the dates are confirmed, I'll put them up on my show listing. I'll be hitting the east coast soon ! YAY!
On a side note - I went with a friend to see a film called 'Once' Yesterday and it blew my mind. The music in it was so beautiful and inspiring.. it's an Irish indie film and I highly recommend you all see it! I actually found out about it because when I was at the filming for The Carson Daly show, the other musical performers were the two leads from this movie. I happened to walk in on their soundcheck and my jaw was on the floor for the whole song. goodnight xo marie'

Just a few things and that's it for this topic !
To anyone questioning whether or not I was forthright about being signed to Hollywood Records - take a listen. This is my first in-studio radio interview I did at Star 98.7 in Los Angeles. This was recorded on the morning show with Lisa Foxx and Valentine at least a month before the Wall Street Journal article. I have never lied about the fact that I am working with Hollywood Records. This is simply a fact and now anyone who would like to can hear it for themselves.
My myspace and my youtube (to this day) does not say Hollywood Records. Why? Because I started both on my own and I manage every aspect of it. Every email, every blog, every video... that is me. My Myspace was created in 2004, a year before I was even close to being signed. I created the Youtube account so that I could post videos of myself singing both covers and original songs. Hollywood Records does not define who I am a musician. It should not make you like me more, make you like me less, or make you listen to me differently in any way. I want you to listen to my music, that's it. If you wanted to know if I was signed or not you could do one of many things - 1. Put my name in Google or Wikipedia 2. Ask me , email me 3. Come to any of my shows over the last 5 months and receive a free cd sampler with the Hollywood Records Logo. It's no secret, there is no deception here. Oh and lastly, I never once had on any of my pages - 'Unsigned'. Now that, would have been lying.
Below this is an interview I did on August 2, 2007 with Star 98.7. I say I have been signed to Hollywood Records, and am working on my album.
I want to say a most heartfelt thank you to those who have come to my shows, taken the time to talk to me, watched my videos, written me emails, and most of all, stood up for me over the last few days. Every positive letter I get is keeping me up and feeling like I've got this army around me! If I lost any fans through this ordeal, they were never ' true' fans... now I know who is really listening to me. I can't wait to start the residency at the Hotel Cafe next week. I hope to see you guys out there... It's going to be exciting and I'll be debuting some more new songs!! can't wait :)
today is feeling a lot better.... how are you all? xo marie' PS - check out this blog: Click here

I think today will be the first ever blog that I write ... as i'm furious. fuming. angry beyond words.
Thank god for blogs because I can say whatever the F.. i want to .
So basically, I got a call recently that some shmuck from the Wall Street Journal wanted to do an article about me. He interviewed some people at my label and then asked to talk to me on the phone. I talked to this guy for an hour, told him every detail of my journey so far in music...
Here's Lesson 1 for me in Media - The writer will use whatever quote he wants of yours to make it fit his 'angle'. This loser was desperate for a good story... he knew what he wanted to write before he ever even talked to me.
The guy's angle is this : that I am a complete phony and fake and a pawn of my record label in some brilliant marketing scheme.
IS this guy completely insane. You think it's that easy? That you get signed and suddenly everything's taken care of for you!!!??
DO you think that my record label came to my house, my bathroom! and told me what songs to sing and told me that in a matter of weeks i'd be some 'youtube ' phenom??!?!
Wake up - I am GRATEFUL to be signed but you know what, Labels don't come to your house, hold your hand, and direct youtube videos for you .
I have so many dear friends who were signed to the biggest record labels in the world, made amazing albums and were DROPPED. that's it.....
I was STRANDED! I was completely lost and desperate... I knew that if i didn't do something, that I would end up like my friends.. that i would have this amazing record which would never see the light of day. Oh, and something else, as many of you have asked me, i STILL don't know when I get to actually release an album !! I mean, I 'm hoping that thanks to all of this good stuff lately, that it will get the chance it deserves but i still don't know for sure. What hurts the most is that this loser took every genuine thing i said and made it sound like I am acting, that this whole thing is scripted. The dude is desperate to be onto the next ' lonely girl' or whatever.. i've actually never seeen that but its obvious that's what he wanted me to be.
I just had to write this because this is a place for me to say whatever's on my mind.. and I want you to hear what I have to say about this article. It's really upsetting but i guess it's also a lesson learned.. this is my first taste of what media might be like.
OK. i'm not angry anymore :)
I guess it's that easy for me to get over it. good thing.. write songs or write blogs, i guess that's my therapy.

Thank you to all who came out last night to the Hotel Cafe !!
It was another sold out show ...
I am so sorry again for people who came out and were turned away at the door when the Hotel reached maximum capacity! Luckily, we are doing a pre-sale for all of the remaining dates in Sept and Oct . So please make sure to reserve your tickets if you'd like to come... that way you'll be in for sure.
I played 'Traffic' for the first time last night and it was awesome :) It's always kind of exciting and scary playing a song for the first time but it felt great ! Lance and I were practicing and practicing, getting the parts just right.... How great is Lance by the way? what a musician..
OH, and during the residency, I'll be premiering some other songs (gotta keep it fresh for anyone who's already seen me a bunch !)
Hope you guys are keeping cool. I'm not :/ lol.. I"m HOT !!! sweating in my own home . Can't wait for it to cool down.. and for halloween .. my favorite holiday :) love, marie'

So I woke up this morning and decided to check my itunes..... I come to find that my cover of
'Umbrella' is 45 on the Top Songs list and 19 on the pop songs list !!
It's truly incredible...
I should be totally over the moon right.. and I am... but there's a tiny part of me that's a little sad as well. I think I realized that the bigger the song gets, the more people who have never heard of me or my story will find it and misinterpret what I'm doing.
I know that it's not worth the time to try and tell everyone in the world but I wish I could.. I wish I could tell them that I NEVER in a million years thought that doing my little video of Umbrella in my living room would lead to this . tv shows, itunes, etc !!! I've been writing my own songs for years and working very hard for years trying to make my way through the music business. What happened to Umbrella was really just some crazy luck and I'm just going where it wants to take me ...
As many of you already know, the profits from the sales of Umbrella are going primarily to two places : One is to the three men who wrote it ! And the other is to the Save The Music foundation. I was very worried about what Rihanna would think now that it's gotten to a place where she might know about it.. turns out she couldn't be happier because it looks even better for her and the magnitude of the song. Needless to say, i was very relieved to hear this ! It doesn't matter whether or not she wrote it, she is the performer and the artist to whom the song was given.. so i definitely cared.
Obviously, you guys are all here and probably reading this because you have been following my story and support me ! I just had to vent for a second because I was feeling a little down from people saying things like 'who does she think she is?' .. ' write your own songs'... itunes people can be pretty brutal .. lol...
But honestly, life couldn't be any better right now. Everyday is something incredible and I feel so so lucky. I must say that a lot lately but I mean it.
Thank you all for your nice comments and emails... I can't wait to start introducing you to the songs that I wrote which really mean the most to me .. and paint a picture for you as to who I really am. I look forward to it :) xo marie'

Hey all - thank you for making last night, one of the best nights of my life...

I saw Harry Potter this weekend.. finally.. I was expecting it to be pretty bad (that's what everyone told me) but I was pleasantly surprised. But there's something missing when John Williams isn't composing the music :( He is a genius. That little musical line that he composed for the Harry Potter movies is brilliant. How does someone capture so many different emotions in just a few notes? It blows my mind.
Is anyone excited about Sweeney Todd? because I AM !! I am huge Tim Burton fan..
ok..so updates:
The Hotel Cafe show is on Tuesday July 31st and there's a good chance I"ll debut my cover of 'Umbrella' for the very first time live.. very excited about this. Tickets will be available at the door and it is 21 and over. I will have 3 song CD samplers with me .. and they are free !
I am taping the Carson Daly show on Wednesday, Aug 1st but it will be airing on Thursday, August 2nd.
Thursday morning Aug 3rd, I will be on the Lisa Foxx and Valentine morning show on Star 98.7!! I believe I'll be in the studio with them around 7:30 am.. ouch :) totally worth it though !
i hope i get to meet each and every one of you guys who have written me over the last few weeks. It's going to be nice to finally see you face to face! if you come to my show or to the carson taping, please make sure to say hello... see you soon xo

what's going on with me? The last two months have been ... insane.. and it's getting better
Carson Daly called and wants me on his show!! I will be appearing on Aug. 1st (wednesday) !!!!!!! I don't have too many details but I just wanted to let you all know. If i find out anything else.. like how many songs i'm doing, I will let you know!
I kind of grew up with the TRL generation. I remember when TRL was just a late night show with Carson in a dark room hosting it.. now i'll be on his own talk show. wow :)

wow - thank you all so much for your call-in requests to Star 98.7 ! They have paid off and just today , I was told that they will now be putting 'Umbrella' into full rotation ( i would put a thousand exclamation points here if i could ) If you want to hear the song, please continue to let them know as that is how they decide how long to play it! For a while, I had come to believe that huge radio stations like that were purely corporate and paid very little attention to what the listeners really want but I was completely wrong. It is ALL about what people ask for..
For anyone not in Los Angeles, you can always call up your local radion station and ask for it anyway, they'll find their way to a copy i'm sure! I'll get it to them somehow :)
OH, and lastly .. I will be doing my first radio interview with Valentine and Lisa Fox on Wed. morning around 7:30... AHHHHH
what do i say? will i be stupid ? nervous? I guess i'll have to see ! This is all truly amazing. Thank you . thank you so much for all of this

to all of my friends in the los angeles and orange county area - if you have a minute, please call Star 98.7 to request my song Umbrella - this will help me more than anything! .. and it would mean the world to me (and because you are my friends, you might help people figure out how to pronounce my name! hah)
the number is 1 800 STAR 987
the more requests, the more often theyll play it :)
thank you so much! marie*

Thank you to all who came out to see me last night.... Hey, I know how long many of you sat in your cars in awful traffic so i'm especially thankful :)
It was such an incredible pleasure playing at the silverlake lounge for the kindest audience ever. I think it even made up for the show I had before this one.. (check out earlier blogs to get a bit of what happened ) The next show I have coming up is a biggie.. If i can pack out the Hotel Cafe they may consider giving me a residency so i'm going all out ! and..... I may throw in my cover of 'umbrella' next tiime :) have a great weekend!

Oh, and to anyone who has recently found me on youtube - thank you for finding me here on myspace! I am so overwhelmed (in the BEST way possible) by the response to my videos and it made me think that i better start practicing a bit more before i hit the 'record' button !
more later... xo

First off - I want to thank everyone who came out last night!!! I was trying to look at all of your faces while I was up there but then I got a little distracted by shave headed gangsters and punks.
It's funny to me how I think I know myself and then I get into a situation I never expected and I react completely differently than what I would have imagined ! On a little side note - my father politely recommended to me that I not ' call out' scary out of control men next time :) i say, that was pretty fun.
Despite all of that I had such a great time. it felt so good and so crazy to finally perform again after almost two years!! I am sooo ready to get back into performing regularly, whether that be a more acoustic thing or a full band. I spent every moment of 2006 on making my record, a record that I am so proud of and can't wait to share with everyone. I'm still not exactly sure when it's going to be coming out but until then there will be more shows, songs, and the samplers.
thank you thank you for a beautiful night
xoxo Marie'

here we are at the beginning of another year.
i'm not sure why it always works out this way but my new years' has always been a quiet occasion.. it's never been about being at a party, counting down the time, kissing the person next to me, getting smashed.. i'm not sure why i take it so seriously. I guess there's a part of me that's always felt like i don't have enough time.. and maybe every new year is just another reminder of that for me.
it's not a sad thing though, it's motivation. it's renewed insipiration. it's an alarm clock of sorts.. i like that time has been cut up into neat blocks which we can count, add up, think about how we've lived them, organize in our memories.
my life up until now has been so incredible. every new year i realize more than ever, how lucky i am to have my family, my friends... i remind myself to never take them for granted.
there's so much i want to do.. i want to accomplish. i feel like i've been running and if there's anything i need to really work on, it's slowing down to appreciate everything i have around me right now.
so let that be my resolution. it sounds simple enough but we'll see if i can actually live it :)

Happy New Year !!! and.. ahh..jet lag..
The hardest part about coming back home from Japan? jet lag.
It doesn't matter what time I go to sleep, I am WIDE awake at 5 am. :)
At least now the sun is up... the depressing thing is waking up while it's still completely black outside !! lol
Anyway, I thought there's no better time for me to wish you all a Happy New Year!! I can't believe all that has transpired in the last twelve months. What a lucky girl I am... At the beginning of this year, I was still in limbo... wondering when my album would actually come out. All of this wonderful stuff started coming my way with the sudden success of my silly youtube videos... I was overwhelmed by the support and I knew that my album wouldn't have a chance without that. Thank you to all of you who have ever taken the time to listen, to watch, to write. I hope my best way of really thanking you is to keep making great music that you all will enjoy. That's why I am so excited about this next album !! During this year, I saw the release of my debut album.. I traveled all over america with some great people while touring, I made amazing friends, went to Malaysia and Singapore for the first time , and did my first live shows in Japan !! I can't imagine what 2009 holds.. As many of you might know, I've been writing and recording non stop since Oct. and I am starting to see the finish line for my sophomore album. I think it's safe to say it'll be released sometime in the summer . I also just got back from Japan and finished recording my first domestic record.. all in japanese! It was quite a challenge but so much fun to do. That should be coming out in japan around march. Once again, I don't get a chance to say this everyday so ... thank you. Thank you so much for giving me a chance to do what I love. Thank you for believing in me ... I know for a fact that many of you support me beyond just as musician , but as a person who's running after a dream. I love you all very much and I hope that 2009 brings you all of the happiness and love in the world. yep, cheesy but I mean every word of it :)

Hello All :)
I've been in the studio now for about two weeks and we are finally wrapping up the recording for the Japanese album. Just about done with all vocals for 12 songs !! I'm so happy with the way that it's turning out. I had a lot of worries about whether or not I'd be able to pull off doing a whole album in my second language.. if I could learn the songs quickly enough.. etc but it's all turning out fine ! The team I have out here is amazing. My producer Satori Shiraishi (top friend on my page) is fantastic and everyone else has been super helpful. I hope this is just the start of doing more domestic albums in Japan.
At the end of the work day, I like to go back to my hotel, turn off all the lights and listen to music as I sit by the window looking out at all of Tokyo. I wish you all could see that sight .. it is truly breath taking... lights as far as your eyes can see. In the mornings, I wake up, shower, get ready and go out to get some coffee and a little breakfast.. everything you could want is walking distance. I love walking up to the second floor of starbucks right above one of the biggest cross walks in Tokyo and looking at all of the people crossing the street. I love this city :) But then again, L.A will always be home.
Looks like I'll have a few days off right around Christmas and then it's right back to work on the U.S Album !
Hope you are all enjoying your December.... hope to see your faces soon :)
xo marié
PS - OHH!!! By the way, I am so stupid when it comes to the simplest things. I was wondering why everyone decided to stop commenting on my page.. and just send mails.. well turns out that my account was somehow set to ' approve all comments' and so they had been backed up since early september ! sorry guys !! (Didn't those used to come into your normal inbox?) anyway, now i'm on the program ;) We got everyone involved to help me with a final chorus in a song today ! we got a good little singer here... !

Konichiwa everyone -
I just did the photo shoot for the Japanese album yesterday ... we lucked out because it's been rainy and cold but yesterday was beautiful. There was an incredible japanese garden we visited and I saw so many adorable couples getting married...aah, to be in love :) So here are some shots from yesterday's shoot... I'll upload more as they come in.

SO I've been at the airport (LAX) for a while now... I got here super early so I've had about 4 cups of french vanilla in the lounge. I will be so wired before my 10 hour flight... crap !!! I want to sleep.. :/
But luckily for me, airports are numero uno for people watching... one of my favorite activities. All kinds of interesting folk here to discreetly look at and create stories in my mind for. I also love watching planes come in and take off... You know what, airports aren't so bad :)
I can't believe I'm finally heading back to Japan. This will be my first Christmas in Japan too ! But I have so much work to do while I'm there... I'm a little stressed, I'm not gonna lie ! But I'm excited too. Next year is gonna be BIG. HUGE . GINORMOUS ! and that really doesn't look like a real word.
Okay, time for me to pack up the laptop and figure out what gate I'm supposed to go to. Speak to you all soon :)

Hello hello !
Hi there - How are you all ? It's been so long... I feel awful.
To give you guys a little update, I have been in the studio every day of Nov. except for thanksgiving .. writing songs for my next album (which should be out around next summer!). It's been such an amazing process to experiment with different sounds and collaborate with other creative people ! I am DYING to start letting you guys hear what I'm working on. What I was hoping to do was to put up a video with a clip of a new song.. BUT>...... the computer problems unfortunately persist and even though I got a new macbook.. . The CAMERA Doesn't work !!!! I am bringing the computer to the mac store on friday to see what they can do. I am having the worst luck with computers lately !
In other news, I am heading to Japan on Sunday to record a covers album - all in Japanese !! I'll be working right up until Christmas (and i'll be spending that there in japan with my family).
I miss you all ! i've been away but I am putting every ounce of energy into writing the best songs that I possibly can.. and really hope that you all will love what I'm doing. More updates to come.

Okay, still stuck with the old computer.. but I think Im getting a little closer to a new macbook. Now that's it's been a while, I'm starting to realize how important that macbook is in my life ! It's a little scary.. I do everything with it .. from communicating with the world, doing my work, expressing my creativity... I miss it a lot :(
BUT , there's some good news to report ! YouTube just emailed me and wants to feature me as one of the musical sensations who broke out through YouTube in some global conference movie they are doing !! I think they just want to interview me and ask me about how it all worked .... trust me guys, I still go to my page on youtube and feel grateful that anyone finds my videos entertaining !!
As soon as I get my new computer.. I want to bring you guys into the studio. Every single day, I've been tucked away in a studio (I was there from 1pm -2am last night !) writing new songs for the next record. I am SOOOO excited about the stuff that is coming out of me... and I wish you could all see it as it happens. So much has happened to me over this last year and I feel like I've got a lot to say and a new perspective.
So guys - thank you for hanging in there. I am putting in every ounce of my energy to make the best album in the world that you all will hopefully enjoy :) I'll be back with updates soon !!
all my love, marie'

I've been getting a lot of emails from you guys going.. ' where are you !!'... ??
I have some unfortunate news...there was a little accident with my macbook. I was working on my computer at our kitchen table.. my mother was eating lunch and drinking a huge glass of milk. I forget what we were talking about but she got excited and accidentally knocked the entire glass of milk onto my computer!! It basically flooded the computer and started dripping out of the other end... the computer made a funny noise (like it was literally dying) ..and turned off.. I knew that was bad news.
So basically folks, my macbook is completely dead. I am using my mom's laptop from what seems to be from like 1992 .. for real, it's probably at least 8 years old. I am doing my best to figure out how to buy a new one .. but i might take me a minute !!
RIP macbook pro .. you served me well.
:) marie'
ps - if anyone has any contacts/special deals with Apple or can help me out.. please let me know ! i could definitely use it !!

vacation !!
hello all -
I just got back from japan several days ago... still haven't gotten over the jet lag! Now I'm leaving for Israel in a few hours for a little vacation with my family. I've seen them all at different times but it's been a long while since we've all spent more than a day together. I guess that's what happens as my sisters and I get older and become more involved in our own activities. I'm sure that when we all start to get married, have children, it'll become nearly impossible to coordinate our schedules for family vacations! So I better enjoy this time now... My parents went ahead of us on a different flight but my sisters and I are flying through JFK Airport NY and then onto Tel Aviv. It's going to be one looong day of traveling but luckily, with all of the flying I've done I've finally learned the secret to getting through that - sleeping. I have pretty bad motion sickness on planes and so sometimes I'll pop a Dramamine or two and that'll easily knock me out for about 5-6 hours . i know.. a little scary. Anyway, as back up .. I've got my iPod, notepad and pen, book, snacks, crappy in-flight food and movies to look forward to :) I will try my best to take some videos while in Israel !! take care and talk to you all soon

To everyone in the Philippines..
I have been asking everyday to my management and label to see if Universal Philippines was able to help organize a trip for me attached to my Japanese promotional tour. Unfortunately, I just got the word today that it's not going to happen. I was really really looking forward to finally coming to the Philippines :( That doesn't mean it won't happen ! In fact, I'm sure there's still a possibility that it could happen this year but it just won't be in the next week or two. Basically, planning a trip for me is a lot more work than one would imagine. Not only do they have to book me (and my guitarist, Lance) flights, hotels, rides, guides, they have to organize a bunch of media for me to do so that I'm not just walking around and sight-seeing :) If they can't get enough performances, tv shows, newspapers, magazines.. etc.. booked in time, it would be hard to get anything done. Not to mention, I wouldn't really have a chance to meet any of you unless you happened to walk by me on the street or saw me in a restaurant !! So anyway, please know that I'm dying to come visit and I am doing everything in my power to make it happen! Like I said, if I hadn't received all of the amazing emails from you guys in the Philippines.. and if you hadn't all gone out to buy the CD (which is what REALLY matters on the record label side ofcourse.. otherwise, they would never send me .. ;) then I wouldn't have this potential opportunity at all. The only reason why this is even being discussed is because we got news that the CD is suddenly doing really well and my songs are getting such a great response from you all.
So that's it for now. It's a bit of bad news but only temporarily i'm sure :)
goodnight* marie'

Hello Everyone !!!
I've been in japan now for over ten days and it's been the craziest schedule I've ever experienced in my life ! My feet are covered in blisters from running around to trains, taxis, the airport, to shows.. through malls.. to interviews.. here in Japan !! It's all been so amazing and i've been taking a ton of video footage which i will upload as soon as i get one minute to breathe!!!
BUT>>>> the most important reason why I am in the lobby of my hotel (using the hotel computer!!) and writing you this blog is because I have a very very big favor to ask all of you. Now I would never do this normally but my best friend is trying to start up an amazing charity and she needs all of your votes in order to win a huge contest that will help with the funding. Here is the information:
It is a charity called The Generation Project and she needs you to vote for her idea on ideablob.com. It's totally free to vote, and if The Generation Project gets enough votes through August 31st, it will win $10,000!
Vote here: ideablog Note: You'll have you register but it is only to make sure your vote is legit. Follow the email link back and make sure you are voting for The Generation Project!
It would mean so much to me if you all could take a minute to check out this amazing charity and to vote for the Generation Project! Jessica (who is starting the charity) is one of my best friends .. and really deserves to get the support she needs to create this amazing charity. Please just take a second to check it out!
Other than that, I'll be back with real updates on the Japan tour and what's to come :) stay tuned !!
xoxo marie'

Hey All -
I am leaving for the airport at 6 am today.. and I haven't finished packing yet! It feels like I just got off of tour but I'm going to be back out on the road again.. this time in JAPAN !!!! 'Unfold' just came out on Aug. 6th and I'm going out there to visit family as well as to promote the album. This is something I've been waiting a looong time to do and I'm going to do my best to document the trip and keep you all updated !
Also, thanks to all of the wonderful fans and friends in the Philippines, there is a good chance that I may stop by after my trip to Japan. I know that my label out there (Universal) is scrambling to get together all of the necessary tickets, hotels, shows.. etc.. but it's not a guarantee yet ! I am crossing my fingers that it works out though because I've been wanting to visit Manila now for a while! Thank you to all of you who have gone out and bought my CD - it's because of the support you've shown that I might have a chance to come and meet you face to face :)
Okay, back to packing... OH! random side note - I was at the grocery store today picking out some dinner ( I decided on a tomato, buffalo mozzarella, and basil panini) and while I was perusing the aisles, first I heard ' You Raise Me UP' by Josh Groban.. i was pleasantly singing along.. AND THEN.......... "the thing about love.. is i never saw it coming'.. comes blaring over the speakers. So there I was, checking out granola bars and giddily smiling to myself while 'Say It Again' was playing at the grocery store. kinda fun*
ok. SEE you all across the Ocean !!!!!!! xoxo marié

Tour 2 is quickly coming to a close.
I've been out on the road so long now that I'm afraid I'll get home and be bored to death ;) I really lucked out because Gavin and his band (brian, coach, casey, and jimmy) as well as the crew have all been so kind. Opening for him has been a wonderful experience...
I think I'll really miss random things like waking up and having no idea where I am .. and having the simplest goal of finding a good coffee and a shower. I'll miss being starving after a great show and stopping at a diner for 2 am pancakes and that tasting like the best meal I've ever eaten. I'll miss the high I feel after having performed for thousands of people whom I've never met before.. and really feeling like I gave it my all. I'll miss all of the musicians and fans I've met while traveling around this country. I'll even miss falling asleep in the bus to the low hum of the engine and the faint sound of people talking in the front lounge. Before I went out on tour, I was really worried about how i would handle it. As many of you know, I am very close to my family so I was afraid I'd be very homesick. I was concerned about my throat and how it'd feel after singing 5 or so nights a week for months. Even though I've missed my family and friends, I have absolutely loved being out on the road. I almost feel at home doing this... and my throat, thank god, has been great!
But the best part by far has been having the chance to meet you guys while traveling through the different cities. So many of you have told me that you came out to a show because a friend told you about me. Thank you for spreading the word about my music.. as that's the only reason why anything has happened for me. Although this chunk of touring is coming to an end, I will be home for roughly a week before I head off to Japan !!!!!!!!!!! Yes.. Japan ! There is a possibility that I'll be visiting other Asian countries but it's all still being sorted out. It's a lot more complicated than just getting airline tickets ! ;) But I am crossing my fingers that I get to extend the trip.
Thank you all for supporting me ... no matter if you've been listening for the last few years or the last few days :)

Here is a little picture wrap-up of my first tour. Tomorrow will be the very last day (six weeks total !!). After having spent every day of the last six weeks with 10 other people, I've come to feel like they are family. We already said our goodbyes to the Nozuka's (justin, anthony and mark). But tomorrow will be the last day with Eric , Jimmy, Kyle, Joni (and Tom even though he had to go home a bit early as well ).
I have a bunch more pictures to share with you guys but here are some to start it off. Some are by me, most are by Lance and some are by Joni.
After tomorrow will be the start of a brand new tour with Gavin Degraw! Hopefully more good stories to come out of that one ;) ... and another opportunity to see all of your faces again !
xo marie'
ps - next single is ............. STUPID FOR YOU !

Just did a new photoshoot for the Japanese Album cover and package ... album comes out on Aug. 6th in Japan and will be 17 tracks long including a fully Japanese song called 'Korewa' !

Hello Lovelies !!
It's 2 in the morning and I really should be getting some sleep but I decided that it's been a bit too long since my last tour update! Today I am in Longview, TX (.. and I have no idea where that really is). All I know is that there is nothing in walking distance except for a Jack-In The Box. Today we had a day off so Eric's band, and Justin's band and I decided to do a bowl-off at the local bowling alley. I've probably bowled about 10 times in my life so I think I can proudly announce that I bowled a 123. Wait, that's what a bowling average looks like right ?
Last night, we played a show at the House of Blues in New Orleans! What an amazing city.. it's too bad that we only had about 8 hours before we had to take off.
The night before that, I had my most disastrous show of the tour in Birmingham, Alabama !! Just about everything went wrong - my mic wasn't on, my guitar wouldn't make a sound, my guitar string popped as soon as the sound came back on, i forgot lyrics.. chords !!! but THEN - everything took a turn when these studs took it upon themselves to come up on stage and dance while I played 'Umbrella'. Thanks guys :)
Oh, and here's a little joke video that Lance and I made while in Nashville...
I can't believe how many cities we've been to in the last several weeks! It's hard to keep them all straight... It's been so great to have the chance to meet so many of you... and if I missed you this time around, I'll be back out on the road again with Gavin Degraw next so come out and say hi ya hear !
xoxo marie' MUST SLEEP !!!!! (but don't worry, i'm getting plenty of rest - trust me;)

Hello Everyone!
I'm sorry that I've disappeared for a bit... I've been out on tour and it's been hard for me to find even ten minutes to catch up on emails !! As you can tell, I'm a little behind on my comments and emails.. so sorry. BUT, the good news is, because i'm touring, that means I'm getting the chance to meet many of you face to face !
This is my first ever tour and I have to say.. i am having the time of my life so far. I am out on the road with Eric Hutchinson (whom I've known for a few years now) and Justin Nozuka (very talented Canadian singer). Both of the guys are phenomenally talented and --- thank god--- very nice and down to earth because the three of us and our bands are all sharing one bus !
If you haven't looked at the tour dates yet, please check them out and if I'm swinging through your town, come and say 'hello' !
Here is a picture of the first day in MN... Today we had a day off and our first opportunity to do some laundry. Let me tell you-- there are some interesting folks at the laundromat in Salisbury, Maryland ;)
There were incredible lightning and thunderstorms today !! I took a picture of the sky about 10 seconds before the downpour began.
More updates to come as the tour continues!! xoxo marie'

APRIL 8th 2008 !!!!!!
The Day is almost here...
If there were a beginning point in the map of my life when I began to write music... I would be able to put a pin exactly on the moment. I was a freshman at my new Catholic High School. I had just transferred from my junior high school where I had pretty much forgotten who I was after being ridiculed and excluded. Often times, I’d come home angry because I didn’t know how to express all of the awful things I was feeling and the only way I knew how to deal with it was pushing everyone away, including my family. Luckily, it was my mom who recognized that I was changing for the worse.. took me out of that school.. and put me into the only school that would take me in at the last moment. So there I was, I had my brand new uniform... only knew 1 girl from my elementary school who had transferred there as well. It was different but I liked it... I felt like I was in some movie... with the nuns walking around the campus, the old creepy hallways that were still painted an absurd color of 1970 ish greenish-yellow, the dark chapel inside the main building where I’d go with my friend when we needed a moment away, the old and out of tune piano that sat in the dining hall... most of all, I liked that I was starting over. I felt like I could re-invent myself.. do whatever I wanted to because no one really knew who I was. One day in religion class, Sister Carol (one of the only teachers at school who ever seemed to really get me and like me) told us that we should take a little break and walk over to the dining room. Everyone in class was raving about the original song that one of the girls in my class had written and performed the night before at the annual talent show. Sister Carol thought that we should listen to Joanna perform it again in the dining hall on the piano.. so we all left class and walked over there.. Joanna sat down at this old brown wooden piano.. we all took seats around her... she began singing.. and it was one of the most beautiful things I had ever heard. I remember so clearly how this pale white glow was coming in through the huge glass windows next to us.. making it almost seem like Joanna was this angel .. I just couldn’t believe that she had written this moving piece of music by herself.. that those little hands had created this song out of nowhere! I sat there stunned.. speechless.. that was the moment. I was just about 15 years old. 10 years later.. I am almost 25 years old and I am just about to release my own album of original songs. The songs on this album were written at 16 ,17...21.. 23... they really are a collection of stories and experiences of my last 10 years. Songs like ’miss invisible’ is like an exact tear sheet from my junior high school journal. I didn’t understand why I had to go through that but I’m so thankful for it now. I know that I wouldn’t be doing what I am without having gone through that. It gave me such drive and motivation to do something worthwhile with my life!! Also, to never judge someone for the way that they look but for their character and heart. Then there’s ’ Beauty in Walking Away’ which was written about being at college and the moment I realized I had to start paving my own path (even if that meant disappointing people I love and leaving behind what I knew was safe). It was still scary because I had only just started to figure out that music is what I loved most in life but I wasn’t quite sure if I had the talent... the skills to stand out. Then of course.. there is ’Unfold’ ... my declaration to myself that I wouldn’t be bound by my insecurities ... that I will do everything in my power to be exactly who I am and not let other people’s opinions of me or who I should be change that. Tomorrow.. will be one of the happiest days of my life. It is the moment in which all of the hours I spent writing songs in the dark after my family went to sleep, all of the days that I spent at the open mics - waiting my turn to sing my song, all of the countless years I spent praying and dreaming that my music would be heard by people around the world... all of this comes to life. all of it is realized. It still however.. is just the beginning :) I hope this next year will be nothing but touring .. touring.. touring. I hope that my music will give me the chance to travel the world and to meet all of you who are as moved by music as me . Tomorrow - if you love my music.. Please tell everyone and their mother’s that my music is out !!! Tell your friends, neighbors, carpool drivers, teachers, dentists, Chemistry lab-partners, therapists, .. EVERYONE ! !! ;) Help me prove to all of those who told me that I was making a mistake by letting everyone in on every part of my album, all the songs... my personal life... that they have it all wrong. It’s not about holding tightly to your music and being secretive.. it’s about letting people know exactly what they are getting... I feel like we’ve already been through quite a bit together.. don’t you? There were controversies before I was even worthy of one .. ;) You guys came to my side to defend me.. we’re a pretty tight unit now ..lol... Anyway, when you get your CD’s.. I hope you’ll find that the most important thank you is to all of you.. all of you who have watched, listened, written, defended, attended a show.. I know for a fact that no matter how hard I worked, none of this would be happening if not for you. so thank you ..
and now for no good reason at all. Here is a picture of me with a hot dog. (it’s actually from last week when i had to sing ’ take me out to the ball game ’ in cleveland !.. I got attacked by these hot dog people while trying to sing the song.. lol)
XOXO ALL MY LOVE !!!!!!!! marie’ :)

stuck in detroit. sucks big time.
There’s a snow storm here in Detroit, MI.
I’ve been sitting in this seat next to my gate for hours. At least I have a view... I am looking out at the runway, seeing airplanes come and go. Directly in front of me there are a line of planes out in the open.. almost like horses are lined up at a stable. These gigantic crane-like machines come by to each plane and it looks as though they shoot hot water onto the tops of the airplanes to melt off the frost. It’s a very futuristic sight, especially now that it’s dark.. You can see the giant high reaching claws of these machines and the huge clouds of steam as they move about the airplanes spitting out hot water.
I guess I’m not used to seeing things like this since I’ve grown up in L.A... When I left home two days ago, it was almost 80 degrees ! It definitely felt like summer was just around the corner...I think it’s taken some traveling around this country for me to finally realize why my parents always said ’L.A has some of the best weather in the world’. They’re right. But that doesn’t mean I don’t stop in child-like awe when it first begins to snow... :)
My first stop on this promo trip was Minneapolis. I went to go visit a radio station that has been spinning my single ’Say It Again’... did an interview and two acoustic performances. One of my oldest best friends’ (we’ve known each other since the second grade) lives in Minneapolis and although we sent about 10 texts each and called each other hourly, we couldn’t quite find the right time to get together :(
(I’m peeking out my window again and seeing the snow start to pile up... that’s kind of crazy that planes fly all the time in this stuff)
Today I played for folks at Borders and Walmart. Performances like those are always a tad awkward because I walk into an office room, neon lights, white boards and all, while the staff are chomping on take-out chinese or pizza delivery and I suddenly have to bust out my tunes! But you guys know all about those by now since I’ve blogged about it. It’s all part of setting up a successful album release and I feel lucky that I can even get up there in front of these huge corporate people and play my songs.. just me and my guitar. Truth is, it was never my intention to release a record that would be listened to by 20 people (although, I’d be happy for that too).. I want it to be available all over the world because I know that my fans are not just from L.A .. you guys are from every corner of the world. Which brings me to the next bit of great news.... My fans in Asia have really spoken and thanks to all of you.. I’ll be visiting very soon . The places I believe I’ll be visiting are Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, Singapore, and Hong Kong. It won’t be for another few months but I’m coming :) So back to where I am now. Still in this seat.. the airplanes have come and gone. I hope mine’s on it’s way.... i’ll check back in soon * Its only day 2
PS - Normally, I take at least 4-5 hours a day to keep in touch with all of you .. writing back to all of your lovely emails but as you can see, it’s going to be nearly impossible for the next two weeks. Please sit tight! I will be back very soon.... and no, I didn’t have any internet at the airport!

okay.. i know you guys have been blogged out of your minds today but here’s the last one for tonight ;)
I am leaving for a pretty intensive (yea, another one ! wee !) trip that will take me through many cities up until the release of my album. There are so many important things and exciting things that I’ll want you all to know so I’m going to have my label take over sending that information to you so I don’t miss telling you anything!
There will be more bulletins and blogs than usual but that’s just because it’s SO close to the release date! it’s gonna be BUSY...
My heart is about to explode.. !!!! so happy. so elated.. so impatient ;)
thanks for helping me sell out the troubadour for april 8th. we are going have the BEST TIME EVER ****

I won’t have any more tickets after they are gone !!
Next, I’m doing a cover/video contest for ’Say It Again’ ! Here are the details :
I am already blown-away by the some of the entries I’ve seen! Popular questions are .. when’s the deadline? - april 30th. can I do it if I don’t live in the U.S ? - of course ! What if I can’t sing or play an instrument - do a video ! It can be a funny video, you can use puppets, you can do whatever you want ;)

So.. I spent this whole last week in NYC.. It was one of the craziest, more stressful, most productive, most fulfilling trips I've had in a while..
I always used to think of myself as a big city girl.. that is until I spent more than a few days by myself in New York City. Watching me try to get a cab was probably pretty hilarious to anybody who happened to be watching. I just have absolutely no conviction in my hailing.. My arm doesn't quite extend with enough confidence or something and then.. some rude stranger would stand right next to me and jump in a cab in less than 10 seconds, leaving me in the rain for another 10 minutes trying to get another.. lol.. My hotel room was directly above this army-recruiting station in Times Square which was bombed on my third night in the city. By that time, I was already so used to trying to sleep while listening to the symphony of fire-engines, ambulances, honking horns... that I probably heard it in my sleep and just passed it off for a popped tire. I came out of the hotel the next morning to go to a radio station visit and I could barely walk down the street! It was shut down to regular traffic and taken over by Crime Scene Unit vehicles and Police. There I was, in my little dress and boots.. guitar case in tow.. walking down the street - I began to think, is this just an ordinary day here in the city? There's something pretty intimidating about Times Square... or maybe I was just too tired to put on my jacket and explore after a long day of work. Most mornings and nights, I just preferred to look at the city from my window on the 34th floor... I could see the MTV studios across the street, I could look into a bunch of office buildings and see people in meetings, sitting at their desks.. it's pretty much the ideal spot for someone who loves people watching like myself ;) come to think of it, I wonder if anyone saw me from their window.. I sat there with my guitar for a while , looking out... spacing out...
On my second to last night, I decided that I absolutely had to get out of my hotel room and do something.. so I decided to go see a Broadway show. Before you laugh at me for my choice.. just remember that I grew up in the 80's with some amazing Disney movies like Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid, the Lion King.. so I went to go see the Broadway show for Little Mermaid. I made my way into the theater which was packed with little kids and parents... The show was obviously a little low budget but I still LOVED it !!! I was probably the only person in there above the age of 10 who was tearing up at the end. I couldn't help !! There I was, 24 years old.. getting all misty eyed at the Little Mermaid and doing my best to keep it together.
Overall , my everyday schedule for that week went something like this : wake up at 6:30 am, order some coffee and whole wheat toast from room service ($15.. crazy right), shower, get ready, vocal warm-ups and practice... singing at that hour of the day is torturous ;) Meet label rep down in the lobby to drive to radio station... play three songs for staff at radio station, if all goes well I get to go into the studio and record a few , drive back to the city, go to meet MTV or VH1 and play for the executives (all kinds of strange and sterile environments where all the pressure is on me to make them think i'm cool.. lol.. which i'm not.. but i still have to try). And i've got to say something about these performances... they are so random !! Sometimes, they'll just pull out a seat for me in the middle of their office cubicles , neon lights and all.. and I have to bust out my guitar and sing my heart out .. it's like an Open Mic but with A LOT more pressure.. But in a way, I've come to enjoy them a little bit because it's such a challenge to to play in a situation like that and still make a connection with these strangers... and sometimes, they are people who are totally jaded and not easily impressed. If i'm still able to sing my songs and pull them in, it's such thrill.. These kinds of things can be pretty draining though when you have 4 of them in one day just because, I'm naturally a pretty introverted person ( I really enjoy being quiet, being alone.. just sort of turning off my 'social' self) but on these days, I have to be 'ON' all day long. What I mean by 'ON' is that I have to be at my perkiest, most alert, most energetic self for the whole day and by the night.. all I want to do is lay in my bed and stare at the ceiling.. !! LOL.. so maybe that's the real reason why I didn't go out very much. But the thing is.. despite the pressure... being 'on'... waking up early.. weird/random performances... all of that stuff.. I feel SOOOO grateful to be doing it. This is what I've wanted all along. This is the moment that I've dreamed about.. and the truth is, after I complete each part of the day, I feel so accomplished - for doing so many things that scare the hell out of me and getting through it. The nerves never go away but I've learned to work through them.
I feel like I'm growing... I don't know that anyone has cared to read down this far into my rant of a blog but my flight back home was a whole other INSANE STORY !!! The short of it is that.. I was supposed to fly out of JFK airport on friday night. It was pouring - like hurricane level pouring.. My driver picked me up from my hotel at 6:30 pm and I missed my 8:50 pm flight due to traffic. I didn't realize how long it took us to get there because he was telling me his incredible story of the 18 months he had just spent in Iraq ( i could go forever on this part) ... Anyway, so i miss my plane.. i'm stuck with more luggage than 3 people can hold. I get ripped off for a luggage cart and use the last of my cash.. It took me 2 hours to find my way to a nearby hotel.. pushed my luggage through the pouring rain to find the shuttle.. made it to the hotel and got a key that didn't work after having lugged all my luggage up to my room without a bell man (since i didn't have any cash left to tip I felt bad).. BUT there is a happy ending to this story as well.. When the man came up to my floor to hand me a working key.. he also brought with him.. A FRESH BAKED , WARM CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE!!!!! I sat there on the floor of the hotel and thought that just that one cookie made up for everything that just happened in the last few hours.. that's how good that cookie was.
Anyway, I got back yesterday and spent all of today doing nothing except going to a nursery and picking out flowers, taking naps.. and catching up on emails.. it was a beautiful , typical, Los Angeles day :) I'm home and happy.. ready to go again. ...

My single 'Say it Again' is officially out on iTunes as of today!!!!
here's the link: Say It Again on iTunes
SO today - I went up to San Jose and San Francisco.. In the morning, I did a short performance for the people at iTunes. It was pretty intense.. I was sandwiched between Rocco DeLuca (is that how you spell his name?) and Gavin Rossdale! Then next, we drove up to SF and I did a show for the employees at the GAP ! It was my first time ever playing ' Paint me in your Sunshine' and I just about peed my pants.. I was pretty nervous to play it. When I wrote it, I never anticipated playing it live and the fingering is difficult ! But I got through it.. and now I'm finally back at my house, in my pajamas, and completely loving the idea of going to bed ;)

Hello !! I just got back NYC yesterday.. LUCKY magazine invited me to come take some photos in 'french fashion' clothes for their fall issue. I should've taken pictures!! arrr.. I don't have any from the shoot but I do have a few from my hotel room which I took out of sheer boredom!
Okay, back to the title of this blog.. here are stations that are currently playing 'Say It Again' and where you can request to hear my song !! PLEASE feel free to add a station from your town if I'm missing it on this list. Oh, and even if your station's not playing it yet, good chance is that they have the track and if you call in or email.. they'll make a point of putting it on ;)
KHKZ – McAllen , TX– Kiss 106.3
KVLY – McAllen , TX– Mix 107.9
KSII – El Paso – Kiss 93 – 93.1
KPEK – Albuquerque – The Peak – 100.3
WKRQ – Cincinnati – Q102 – 101.9
WAYV – 95 Wave – 95.1
Sirius - The Pulse
WRKQ - Washington, DC 107
There is also a station in Memphis and Salt Lake City but I don't know the names of those stations quite yet.. i'll definitely have to update this every few days as I get more information. but it's SOO EXCITING!!
More to come folks.. I'll be back shortly with more news! xoxo marie' Do you not love this bathroom wallpaper!?? It was so cute and a very unusual choice ! This was my assortment of over-priced hotel room food.. I hate how they display it right in your face so you almost give into eating a $5 candy bar. I have an awful secret to confess.. If i'm desperate for say.. a water.. I'll go ahead and drink it, fill it up again with tap water so I don't get caught and then I replace it with a new one from a store before I leave! hey it's not that bad as long as I put a new one back right ;)

hello all :)
So, I really LOVE traveling.. but the only big bummer is dealing with the jet lag. There's a 17 hour difference between L.A and Tokyo so it's been a little rough ! haha.. It's completely worth it though.
I had such an amazing time with my cousins and grandma, I ate some of the most delicious food, and did a lot of good bargain shopping ;)
I uploaded a ton of photos from my trip on a site called Friends or Enemies ... at www.friendsorenemies.com . In a few days, I'm going to be launching my home page there and you should check it out !! This site was basically started by Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy and is the home for Panic At the Disco, Gym Class Heroes.. etc.. ( I know I don't exactly fall into that category... BUT) I was invited to join their site and I was ecstatic! This is the place where I'll be putting up really simple day-to-day stuff and videos.. just Marie'-the-dork stuff really... In my mind, I've divided it up so that YouTube will be all about my actual performances, Myspace will be for my emailing with you all and my music, and Friends or Enemies will be everything in between. Today for example - I made a video with a friend of mine about how much I love milk.. yes.. milk.. so there ya go..
OKay, for the BIG BIG news... I have just posted my FIRST OFFICIAL SINGLE !!!!!!!!! It's called 'Say it Again' and it is being sent to radio stations all over the country as I speak. This is where I need all of your support in a huge way... PLEASE call in and request to hear my single at your local radio stations. Usually, I get played on what is called a HOT AC (Adult Contemporary) station - Somewhere you'd hear John Mayer, Sheryl Crow, The Fray... you know what I mean. I am so unbelievably excited to go out on another tour to support this single and to have the opportunity to meet all of you !!! Any city that has a station playing the song will definitely be a city that I visit ! I'll have more details on this in the coming week.. so stay tuned...
There is so much to say... I don't want to bombard you all with everything going on, i'll just stick to the most important and leave it at this for now :) THANK YOU so much - as always - for all of your comments, emails, and encouragement! This is gonna be one hell of a year .. xoxo marie'

AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
SO if you don't know this already, my brand new album ' breathing underwater 'is officially out on AMAZON !!!!!!!
They are doing a special promotion where you can download the whole mp3 album for only $2.99 but this deal may only be a day or two !!!
For those of you (like me) who like to buy CD's, so you can hold it in your hand, look through the booklet, the cd will be out everywhere on Sept 15th !!!!
Last September, I had finished a long summer of touring and promoting ' Unfold ' my debut album. Getting to travel all over the country with eric hutchinson, justin nozuka, and gavin degraw were some of the best times of my life.
On the first tour with Eric and Justin, all of us and our three bands were jammed onto one bus! Living off of coffee and pancakes, showering in holiday inn's ( on lucky days!),falling asleep to the loud hum of the bus engine, meeting new fans and friends, countless truck stop meals and quick entertainment, sitting on the grass in the middle of nowhere and looking up at the stars, experimenting with new songs, getting super bored and having a bit too much to drink :p, walking around strange towns and sometimes accidentally discovering the most amazing restaurant or coffee place, spending a whole day in target... i know it might sound silly but i loved every moment of it.
I am so grateful that I had the chance to even release my first cd and then on top of that, to get to play it for people all over the world ...
Traveling to Singapore, Malaysia, and Japan for unfold was amazing as well :)
So I got off the road, came home... and it was time to think about album #2.
What did I want to say? What musically, did i want to explore? What was inspirational to me at the moment...
I wasn't exactly sure how it was supposed to sound but I knew a few things for sure :
It had to be bolder, more confident, and lush....
After performing live, I was craving more music that would make people want to move.
So i had to have rhythm... bass..... I wanted beats...
I was THRILLEd with all the possibility.... and then came a flood of doubts.
Wait, is this what my fans want of me? Am I supposed to just stay an acoustic-y, folky, artist my whole career? Is that all that I can do?
Then I started thinking about all the artists that I've grown up idolizing.... portishead, radiohead, tori amos.. the list goes on.. they've never been shy of evolving, with each album, they grew and morphed... they challenged me to listen differently, to feel differently.
Now, I may have a long ways to go before i even touch the edge of leaving the mark that these bands have but I don't see why I shouldn't strive to walk in that direction...
Like I may have said before in my songs, I, just like anyone else, have insecurities and moments of doubt but ... there is one thing I am not, fearful.
Nothing great, nothing life changing or epic comes out of fear....
So while I might have had some worries as to how I would explain to everyone where I was going and why, I knew I had to do it and if I was going to do it, put everything I had into it.
Kind of reminds of the day I decided to leave behind college (despite the advice to do the opposite from all those around me including those who love me the most) to pursue music. It was either the most ridiculous decision or my life or the most important and brilliant.
Last September, I was introduced to several incredibly talented producers and writers through my dear A&R (Allison Hamamura) with whom I made this album. If you didn't know, I have been without a manager for almost a year now. Everything I did between last september and a few weeks ago.. I did alone.. but the person who helped me the most and got me through this was Allison.
If you read through my album credits, you will see that there are a handful of people who made up the core of this album.
It was a magical process.... I worked on this album every single day.. all through out the holidays, just taking a few days off for Christmas . I was also making my first Japanese album ' Second Home' at the same time.. which only doubled my work!! ha
As exhausted as I might have been at the time, I felt so exhilarated and happy..
Without expecting it, I began falling for someone.. someone I really shouldn't be falling for but as we all know, the heart doesn't really seem to care about ' should ' or 'shouldn't .. it has a mind of its own.
I'd spent so much of my life putting up the thickest walls around me so I wouldn't get hurt or feel let down.. but something in me was changing. I accepted the possibility of being hurt, of being vulnerable. Maybe this for me was keeping the promise I had made at the end of unfold... It's still a struggle but I remind myself everyday that it's better to feel than to spend the rest of my life being so closed off and just watching the world from the outside.
I think all of the joys and struggles I felt during that time come through in the songs.
The album begins with ' daybreak'.. the first amazing night I spent with someone, feeling so out of control of the situation, knowing that with the daylight, came the possibility of everything changing... everything great about the day before disappearing with the night.
And the album almost comes to a close with Come to LIfe where I learn I have to let go... things happen as they should in their own time.
I didn't fully realize it before but I guess it's matters of the heart which speak to me the most. I have a healthy imagination but it's my experience and truth, that seems to make it's way into my songs.
My hope for this album is that people will listen with an open heart... and open mind... and feel what I was going through during those few months. It was a short but very intense period of growth for me.
I have so much in me to say, to express.... as a person, I am still figuring out who I am and how I want to share it with the world through my music. I hope this is something I get to do for many more years to come. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, for being there with me... whether you just found out about me 5 minutes ago or you've been with me from the very beginning.. thank you for listening. I still sit outside on my roof and look up at the sky wondering why I'm in this place, why I'm lucky enough to do what I love more than anything. I think if anything, I am proof that if you want something badly enough and you are willing to commit your life to it.. it will happen. I truly do believe that...
I doubt I will get too much sleep tonight but I if i do, I'll go to sleep with the biggest smile on my face.
Love you all....

umm... ASIA !!!!!!!!!
It's been quite an interesting last few weeks.
Right now, I'm scrambling to figure out all the details for my promo trip out in Japan and southeast Asia.
YAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just had to get that out there. I'm very excited
I can't believe I'm FINALLY making it out to the Philippines !
As of now, I'm playing Singapore on the 28th - The Arena, Manila - Aug 1st (I think the Hard Rock) and Summer Sonic on the 8th in Tokyo..
These will be my very very first performances of the music from Breathing Underwater.
I only have a little time to rehearse and figure out the show but I really hope that I put together something that you all will LOVE !! That's all I care about, is giving you guys an amazing experience to walk away from.... It'll be a small configuration of just me, and two other guys.
My only dilemma is : I want to make sure that I don't repeat what happened in Malaysia last year. I just had no idea what to expect when I did a little mall show (was hoping for a few hundred folks to come and listen) but several thousand came... The whole situation was a bit out of control and I barely had a chance to meet anyone. Any person who's attended a show of mine will tell you that I'll stay outside until my fingers are falling off to meet and greet and thank every person. Why? Because that's the kind of musician I want to be and that's the kind of musician I admire. I remember all the years of going to shows and waiting outside of the venue for hours just to catch a glimpse of my favorite artist.. I know how that feels.
So I'm doing my best to coordinate with the show bookers, the label folks, all the biz people to make sure it's a bit more organized. I'd much rather meet a small group of people and really get a chance to talk and hang out instead of meeting everyone and not even getting a chance to get your name and introduce myself ;)
Then again, if I'm only playing to 15 people, there won't be a dilemma at all lol
Once again, I just don't know what to expect ;)
All I know is that I've been waiting and wanting to get back to singapore, philippines, malaysia and japan ... It looks like Malaysia isn't working out this time but you know I'll be back ! Then europe - someday- ahh europe. I gotta get over there toO ! One thing at a time.
I'm also in talks to do something very exciting which will be somewhat like a mini movie based on all the songs from my album. Think of it as a very unconventional music video - except this one uses every song !
Okay, that's it for now I guess. I will post any new updates as they come in regarding my trip and future plans.
Hope you are all very, super, fantastically, out of this worldly.... well :)
xoxo marié

hallo
I was just thinking about how much I've grown and changed over the last few months.
Everyday my patience is tested... There's so much that I want to happen right now but I know it's probably not best for me, not the right time. But it's always a fight - knowing that things take shape when they're supposed to - but wanting so badly to bend it and make it happen when I want it to. One thing I've learned not to question though is the course my life has taken in music (everything else is a hot mess.. lol). But at least, I know that every bad, every good for me in my pursuit of a musical career happened at exactly the right time. And who knows, maybe it works the same way for the rest of my life and maybe I just haven't made sense of it yet. Maybe the rest of my life never mattered as much.
In many ways, I spent so much of my life with blinders on.. There was only one thing my mind and heart was focused on. Before I put my all into music, I was pretty lost. Ever since I made that decision to leave college and do this, even when it was the most difficult, I had clarity.. I saw the end goal. So any frustration I feel now, it's just because I know where I want to go and it just doesn't ever happen as quick as I'd like or how I had planned :) But that's okay. That's what I've learned.. that's totally okay.
Now for the rest of my life... lol.. In some ways I'm way ahead. In other ways, I'm ridiculously behind. But more on that later..
Now for some quick updates :
U.S album release for Breathing Underwater has been pushed to July 21st
(trust me, I need this extra time !! )
BU will most likely be released in Japan and other asian territories around June 23rd
We are in the very early stages of planning a trip for me to visit :japan, singapore, malaysia and the philippines ! But nothing is even close to finalized :/
I will most likely be touring the U.S in the fall .
I have been taking meetings with several managers, have a few whom I love and I'm trying to make a decision asap
Music video treatments for 'Avalanche' are just starting to come in and we are aiming to shoot by the end of the month or early june.
Thank you to all of you for being so actively involved in my career. I really do feel like I have ( I say this all the time) an army behind me !! I love you all very much.. thank you :)
and now, it's time for me to stop being anti-social and return to the party that's going on downstairs... lol...
I was always the kid leaving the party, roaming around in the backyard and making friends with the cats and dogs outside. what a weirdo .lol

On Friday the 24th I will be at......
USC.. hanging out and playing a song or two acoustically for the Asians For Miracle Marrow Matches benefit.
You see, a classmate of mine from high school is in desperate need of a bone marrow transplant and she is having a drive on Friday...
So if you'd like to come and hang out, maybe even to see if you might be a donor (that's what I'll be doing) then come on down.
I believe it's happening at Ground Zero Cafe on campus
I think I'll be down there around 9:30 or so... :)

Album Leak...
Hello All... Thank you for all the concerned emails about Breathing Underwater being leaked onto the internet!! I have the BEST fans ever.. to read all of your comments trying to protect me... fighting for me , really moves me.. THANK YOU >!!!! love you all so much for that.
Here's the thing. In this day and age, albums are going to leak pretty much no matter what you do to try and prevent it.
Yesterday, my album advance was sent only to the folks at my record label, radio DJ's and music supervisors. It is just inevitable that one of those people are going to try and make a buck or put up the music just for their own personal satisfaction. It's sad but it's just a part of life...
But the truth is, I love this album so much.. I am so proud of it and I am almost excited that now people who really want to, can listen to all the hard work that I've done over the last few months.
If you feel the need to buy the album off of ebay or to download the whole thing for free.. just remember one thing please. I live and breathe music... it is all that I do in life and all that I want to do for the rest of my life. Please know that the one way you can help me continue doing it is by supporting my album. If you can't afford 8 dollars for an album, then you can always support your favorite artists by even just purchasing a song or two ! If an artist I love had made a new album and it was on the internet, I would probably want it too !! But I would undoubtedly go and buy the album with pride on the date of release as well.. but that's just me :)
In my life so far, I've learned that nothing good comes from holding too tightly to your music, to your songs. The whole point is to share it with the world... So I guess when I look at it that way, this whole thing isn't so bad after all :)
love,
marié

just a bunch of nonsense !!
Hellooooo !!!
I'm in a weird mood here so please excuse whatever I say... definitely not in the mood for organized thought. I just realized that it's been a while since I've updated you all and so I'm going to try and sum up what I've been doing.. what the future plans are etc :)
Basically, like I said in the last blog, Japan was hectic but it was a blast. It's kind of like being in a hurricane while I'm over there promoting and then when it was done, there was this amazing one week of peace and quiet.
I came home and did absolutely NOTHING !!! It was so wonderful... trying to just sleep as much as I could, eating well, going to see movies...
But then the chaos started up again :) You guys probably don't know this but I have been without a manager for 6 months (and for the whole making of both the u.s and japanese albums). That may not sound so hard but trust me .. it is. A manager is supposed to help take care all of your business so that you can concentrate on just making art and being a musician.
Because I haven't had a manager, I've had to take on that responsibility and it's been quite a challenge. Im looking so hard to find a new manager but for the time being, it's just me.
The album is completed but I am just doing the final touches on the artwork . I just handed in my album 'thank you's and there is of course, a special thank you for all of you.. the most special thank you... You'll see it in a few months :)
My album was originally supposed to come out in May but I asked for it to be pushed back because I need more time to find a manager and make sure that we have the perfect set up for the album. I need to make sure that everyone knows about it before just releasing it !
There's so much to releasing an album guys... I had no idea but it takes careful planning and great promotion. Although, I'm really lucky with what's happened on YouTube, it's put so much of the control in my hands because I can say whatever I want and present my music however I'd like without having to filter it through anyone. That's what I love.. and I think that's why I have been able to create such a special relationship with so many of you.
In about two weeks, I will be heading to New York (I'll be there for my birthday as well on April 16th .. ahhh !! ) to play some small showcases for mtv, vh1, verizon wireles... and that'll be great preparation for doing some 'real' shows when I come back. I'm looking forward to another summer out on the road !! Can't wait for that.. time really kind of stands still when you're out on the road. I got on this wacky schedule of going to be at 4 am and sleeping in until 2 pm.. getting out of the bus, walking around in some strange new city and looking for a decent place with breakfast, becoming family with the musicians I traveled with, seeing new faces everynight, enjoying getting lost in some local park, getting so comfortable with the live show that it no longer involves nerves.. it's just pure fun, random bus stops and finding some new crazy junk food that you love but makes you sick the next day..lol.. finding some great trinket in a tiny town... I look forward to that...
I'm also thinking about making a website.. I can't believe I still don't have one !! It's just been youtube and myspace. Maybe it's time to create a little world of my own huh? But before that, I think my myspace needs a little makeover !! I gotta get some of the new photos up, and maybe some new songs as well.
Okay, I need to wrap this up. I'm starting to bore and confuse myself!! what did i talk about? i dont even have the patience to read it over.... If you made it this far, thank you !!!
oh, and another random note.. I went to see this movie called sin nombre and I really like it... especially the ending credit song. so good !! i just downloaded it on itunes.
Love you all.. hope life is wonderful for you ***

back from tokyo !!!
hello everyone - I just got back from japan today and I am exhausted !!!!
The last six months have definitely been challenging but the last 12 or so days I spent in Japan might have been my hardest ever. I think I need a minute to breathe... :)
Anywho, it feels good to be back in L.A and here are some pictures from the trip. As hectic as it was, it was so much fun promoting 'second home' and I cant wait to get things started for 'breathing underwater'. HOpe you are all fantastic !!! xoxo

Album Photoshoot !!
We did the photoshoot for my new album 'Breathing Underwater' yesterday and I had the privilege of working with the amazing Mary Rozzi.... www.maryrozzi.com. She is absolutely incredible and made me feel so comfortable (taking pictures is not my favorite thing in the world ;) My friend and incredibly talented make-up artist Carlene K(on my top friends.. check her out!) did my make-up and snapped some photos from the shoot.. It'll probably be about a week or so before I see the actual photographs but here's a glimpse into how it went.... I hope you all had a wonderful valentines day !!! :)

nothing important.. just babble really
It's kind of nice having a blog title that doesn't end with !!!!! right ? :)
I had some pretty insane dreams last night. I was able to remember every part of it when I first woke up but dreams have a mysterious way of vanishing from the memory in the course of one day. Now I only remember bits and pieces but it did involve outer space, people visiting us from the future, random people I know coming in and out of the dream, and time travel.
Have I ever talked about my secret passion? It's the study of the universe and time. I've probably read A Brief History of Time about 10 times. When I go to the bookstore, I love to browse through the huge photography books on the birth of the universe and the cosmos. At the airport (which is the only time I ever buy magazines) I stock up on Scientific American and Discovery. Someday when I'm older and I have a lot of time, I am going to finish school, and become an astronomer :)
Anywho.. back to life right now.. the recording process for this album is now complete! I had a very intense and difficult meeting with my label to choose which songs actually made the album. I made so many wonderful friends during the making of this album and it was hard to choose ... some people's songs made it, some didn't. I love them all.. it was kind of heart breaking but I know that all songs have a way of surfacing over time. If you guys are interested, some of the incredibly talented people I worked with are on my top friends and you should check them out ...
'Unfold' is my debut album.. it is the album of my dreams. It chronicles my life from age 15-23. It is a page in the story of my life ...
For this next album, I wanted to try something different
The lyrics would remain my truth, my story
but I wanted a whole new landscape sonically.
I wanted beautiful melodies, and I wanted beats
That is the concept for this album
I feel like it's so easy to stay in one place .. to stay comfortable I wanted to stretch myself ... my voice, my writing
This album was made during the course of oct 08 - jan 09
Which isn't a lot of time but so much happened in those few months
I broke down, I was scared, I was thrilled, I felt heart break, I felt love, I felt confident,
I became more comfortable in my own skin, I felt alone, I felt hopeful.... I felt so much
and i think that's what comes across in the songs.
I'm trying to figure out how best to introduce you to the music... I'm not sure yet but I'm sure whatever I do will find its way to youtube :)
That's it for now. Hope you are all very well.
love,
marié

The Generation Project t-shirt !!
Hey guys - I know that I've been m.i.a for a while but I am back now!! This week is probably my last in terms of being in the studio and recording. After this, I have to choose which songs will actually make the album, get those mixed/mastered, and start on the artwork for the cd cover ! But the point of this blog is.... With the help of my friend Ji at Fear to Faith clothing, I have designed a t-shirt for my best friend's charity called the Generation Project! If you'd like, please take a moment to check out her blog.
The Generation Project is such an amazing concept which helps people give back to their communities in their own unique way. Please take a minute to read about it... :) Okay, that's it for now but like I said, after Friday, I am a free woman !!! (well, sorta) So I'm going to be blogging, video-ing, internet-ing, and all that good stuff. Hope you are all well !! xo marié
