How did Marié get involved in YouTube?
Marié won the Patene Pro-Voice Competition, which included a piano, $5,000, and a record deal as prizes. She first signed to Rondor Music, a branch record label apart of Universal Records, in late 2005, then switched to Hollywood Records a year later. Within a few months, Marié recorded her debut album, "Unfold". She wasn't getting much information about when the album might be released after she recorded it, so she signed up to YouTube and made short song covers so that she would get noticed and so that her label wouldn't remove her.
What made Marié so famous on YouTube?
Marié did a cover video for Rihanna's "Umbrella", which went basically blew up and was featured on YouTube's main page when it eventually reached 500,000 views. She was later asked to record the cover and it was added to her debut album, "Unfold."
